(More customer reviews)The first WS I received did not work (wind senor) and La Crosse support was almost nil. They asked the same questions that they have as FAQ's in their emails as though that answered everything. This is minor but the boxes both said that batteries were included and guess what; no batteries. They have a registration page BUT it only goes to 2010; I guess they forgot that a new year had begun.
Amazon accepted my return and I received my replacement about 7 days later. The sub-vendor had to order it from La Crosse because they did not not have it in stock as they said they did.
The WS works fine except that it loses connection to the PC when it goes to sleep so I installed the USB connection and software on my Windows Home Server. But if it fails to continue to work I will not purchase another La Crosse product mostly because of their "support" team.

The local meteorologist has nothing on this all-wireless professional weather center from La Crosse Technology. Accompanied by a thermo-hygro sensor, a solar-powered wind sensor, a self-emptying rain bucket sensor, the weather center assesses a host of climate conditions. The weather center LCD base receiver holds 3000 weather data sets, and displays: date and time in 12- or 24-hour format; forecast icon with tendency indicator; indoor/outdoor temperatures in Fahrenheit or Celsius; indoor/outdoor relative humidity percentage; wind chill, speed, and direction; air pressure; rainfall rate and totals; dew point; minimum/maximum values with time and date stamp; and historical weather graphs. Several weather alert alarms warn of storms or other problematic weather conditions.
The weather center\'s remote sensors evaluate outdoor temperatures from -39.8 to 139.8 degrees F, wind speeds from 0 to 118 mph, and rainfall from 0 to 393-3/5 inches. From a distance up to 164 feet, the wind and rain sensors transmit data to the thermo-hygro sensor. In turn, the thermo-hygro sensor communicates with the base receiver from up to 200 feet away. The base receiver wall-hangs or stands on a tabletop; the sensors come with mounting brackets and hardware for installation. For data storage on a home computer, the weather center comes with a USB transceiver and the free download of La Crosse\'s Heavy Weather 2800 Pro PC software (compatible with Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7 operating systems). The transceiver communicates with the base receiver from up to 80 feet away. To power the weather center, the separate purchase of four C and two AA alkaline batteries is required. A limited one-year guarantee covers this item. The brown-framed base receiver measures 7-1/2 inches wide by 1-1/2 inches deep by 7-1/2 inches high.
