Need a quick, easy way to determine both the time and the morning temperature with a single glance? Check out the Timex TX6000 electronic thermometer, a versatile desktop model that simultaneously displays the indoor temperature, outdoor temperature, current time, and date in big, bold numbers. The compact unit--which also mounts on a wall (the stand is removable) or sits unobtrusively on a tabletop or shelf--offers an indoor temperature range of 32 to 122 degrees F (0 to 50 degrees C) and an outdoor range of -58 to 158 degrees F (-50 to 70 degrees C). As a result, you can instantly gauge whether to bring the plants inside during a cold spell, turn up the heat in the living room, or put on a jacket before taking a stroll. At the same time, the TX6000 includes an integral minimum/maximum memory function that records the high and low temperatures of the day. The values are available at the push of a button, with a second button clearing and resetting the memory on command.
The TX6000 is remarkably easy to read--even from across the room--thanks to the four-line LCD panel's crisp, bold layout. Even better, the system comes with a wireless remote sensor/transmitter that measures the outdoor temperature from up to 80 feet away. The extended range of the wireless transmitter lets you place the main station virtually anywhere in the home without losing the remote signal. The wireless sensor also offers its own LCD display--a rarity among temperature probes, which typically exist only to broadcast the temperature back to the base station. Thanks to the display, you can stroll by the wireless transmitter outside and instantly know how hot or cold it is.
Another nice bonus is that all four lines of data are stacked in a logical fashion, so you don't need to press any buttons or switch screens to check the latest info. Users do, however, have their choice of multiple formats for each line, including Celsius or Fahrenheit readings for the temperature and 12-hour (with AM and PM) or 24-hour readings for the time. The selections are made via the silver control buttons beneath the LCD display. The clock also boasts an alarm with its own snooze button.
Power requirements include two AAA batteries for the base station and two more for the remote sensor (not included). The TX6000, which measures 3 by 6.12 by 2.88 inches (W x H x D), is backed by a one-year limited warranty.
