This La Crosse Technology TX27U-IT 915 MHz Wireless Temperature Sensor with LCD is the same Model TX27U-IT that comes standard with and works at the outdoor transmitter for the La Crosse Technology WS-9121U-IT-CBP Wireless Thermometer, which accepts a total of three sensor/transmitters - two in addition to the standard one that come with the wireless thermometer. If you have this particular La Crosse Wireless Thermometer, adding these is an excellent way to monitor the temperature in a child's bedroom, a greenhouse, a back year, a basement or any number of other locations.
The specs note that the TX27U-IT sensor has a range of 330 feet (100 m). I've tested mine at about 250 feet away, and have it mounted outside behind foliage and part of the building about 175 feet away - it works just fine. The 330 feet should be considered as in "open air" with no obstructions and that radio waves like this don't curve around objects. The actual transmission range depends on how many obstructions (walls, floors, the roof, ceilings, outdoor foliage, etc.) are in the way, and could cut the signal range in half.
Please also note that this is NOT a dual channel model with humidity, rainfall, snow measurement, local bug count, political affiliations of those who pass by or any other function combined. It senses temperature... and that's it, and it should only be used with other La Crosse 915 MHz weather instruments. If in doubt, check the La Crosse site on the 'Net for more info, or call their customer support people.
The La Crosse Technology TX29U-IT 915 MHz Wireless Temperature Sensor is anther model that that is similar in function, but it lacks the LCD panel. The La Crosse Technology TX37U-IT 915 Mhz Wireless Temperature Sensor is also similar, and also lacks the LCD temperature display, but is a weather resistant solution where direct exposure could be a factor.
In any case, these are excellent solutions if you want to expand the capability of the wireless thermometer mentioned above... and remember, no more than a total of three remote sensor/transmitters can be used with this unit!

Check the outdoor temperature from multiple locations of a yard by adding an extra wireless temperature sensor to a separately-purchased La Crosse Technology weather station. For use with any La Crosse 915 MHz weather system with IT technology, the TX27U-IT wireless sensor transmits outdoor temperature readings from -39.8 to 139.8 degrees F to the system receiver to help users to plan appropriately for brisk or hot weather. Additionally, the sensor provides on-site temperatures on its small LCD; this sensor does not evaluate humidity or air pressure. At a 915 MHz frequency, the sensor communicates from a distance of up to 330 feet unobstructed. Transmission through walls reduces the wireless range. Using the provided mounting bracket, install the sensor in a sheltered location to protect it from rain and direct sunlight. This sensor also can be employed for indoor temperature monitoring. For power, the sensor requires one CR2032 cell battery. A limited one-year warranty covers this item. The sensor measures approximately 1-1/2 inches wide by 1/2 inch deep by 3-1/2 inches high.
