Hamilton Beach 48275 Brew Station 6-Cup Coffeemaker, Black/Gray Review

I bought the hot pink version, #48271, from the after school clearance aisle for $11. Most of the comments about this style of Hamilton Beach Brewmaster (regardless of the model #) are right on.
the pros:
+It makes 2 travel mugs of coffee.
+The coffee is hot and delicious!
+It was worth the $11 sale price.
+Easy to program.
+Small footprint and it looks good.
+No carafe!
+No drips.
+The hot pink color will become a conversation starter!Where to start. I think the industrial designers and approver of this thing should be fired. They obviously never used a kitchen or had to clean up after themselves!
the cons:
-This thing is MESSY!!
-Condensation on the lid. The tracks under the lid should guide the moisure into the hopper, but the lid gets so wet that the moisture overwhelms the ability of the design to do its job. Thus, water gets all over the counter. Opening this lid hours after brewing or over the sink helps somewhat with the moisture problem.
-This thing is ridiculously tall when the lid is open.
-The coffee basket isn't deep enough to hold the standard available basket filter that it calls for. I have yet to find the small 4-8 cups size that should fit. I shouldn't have to special order something like that.
-Due to the filter size, you have to remember to move the water arm over the grinds or it knocks the side of the filter over when you close the lid.
-The water comes out with such force that the grounds get on the inside of the lid.
-The basket holder and hopper have weird clunky shapes with nooks and crannies and bumps that need to be rinsed out daily, resulting in water splashed everywhere.
-You have to be accurate when pouring the water into the boiler. The directions say to use the hopper, but its large square shape makes it easier to miss. I use my Britta as it pours where I need it to.
Whatever. I'm done complaining about this coffee maker. I'm just glad I got it on sale and don't have to use the thing on a desk in a dorm room! Its two saving graces are that it does make a really good cuppa joe, and hot pink is one of my favorite colors.

12 Cup Brewstation Coffeemaker with Insulated Tank Review

12 Cup Brewstation Coffeemaker with Insulated Tank

I bought this machine to replace a much cheaper Black & Decker coffee maker that had the worst carafe I've ever used. That thing could not pour coffee without dribbling and spilling and I got tired of the constant mess. This Hamilton Beach machine solves that problem completely. I've been using it diligently for a week now and I am very happy with it. I particularly like the adjustable turn-off time and the adjustable strength feature. It keeps my coffee fresh and hot without burning it and since I am home job hunting, it is getting a work out.
It has just one fault that I have found and that is somebody decided to save 10 cents by leaving off an extra (neccesary) foot of power cord. The cord on this is so short that the machine almost must be pushed undeneath the overhead cabinets to reach the power outlet yet the machine is so tall that you can't open it or fill it without pulling it out to the edge of the counter. That puts the power cable up in the air instead of tucked behind my toaster. One extra foot of power cord would have solved this problem. Other than that, it is a great machine. It is tall but the footprint on the counter is smaller than most coffee makers which is a bonus on my too small countertop.
Highly recommended.

Hamilton Beach 48464 Brewstation Summit 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker Review

Hamilton Beach 48464 Brewstation Summit 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker

Purchased to replace our Brewstation Deluxe, which we absolutely loved! The only reason we did not purchase another one exactly like our old one is because of the leaking problem. About 1x/year we would need to replace the 'carafe' portion of the coffeemaker. The Summit was the 3rd replacement model we tried. It is the only other model that has all of the features that the Deluxe had (programmable auto shut-off & timer, brewing cycle selection). I agree with the previous post that it is a bit more awkward to fill. But, the biggest problem I have with it is the coffee basket. It has about 50 holes in the bottom for the water/coffee to flow out of the basket. The result is a very weak-tasting coffee because it flows through so quickly. I can't understand why this model is made like this when other models have only one hole! There is no way to even use enough coffee to get a strong flavor, even when putting it on 'Bold' setting, which slows down the brewing cycle. I figured out how to solve this problem by purchasing a permanent filter basket to use inside the other basket, plus using a paper filter. This adds to the awkwardness of the whole process, but we are so hooked on this style of machine that are willing to put up with it. It is also messier than the Deluxe because of all of the condensation inside. When you lift the lid water runs down (but mostly back into the carafe), and when you take out the basket there is condensation all over it and it drips trying to get it to the trash or sink. I also just noticed one of the buttons to set the time is sticking. Well, maybe I should go back to the Deluxe...

Uniquely designed without a coffee pot, this 12-cup coffeemaker features, instead, an insulated tank that keeps coffee hot and fresh inside. To serve, simply depress the non-slip dispensing bar with any favorite mug for one-handed dispensing--no carafe means no pouring, no spills, and no hotplate that can sometimes scorch coffee or make it bitter. The appliance also provides a user-friendly push-button control panel. Choose from several brewing options including bold, regular, iced coffee, or small batch (1 to 4 cups). Even more, the unit's programmable clock and timer allow for brewing "wake-up" coffee, while its keep-warm mode can be programmed to automatically shut off immediately after brewing (for iced coffee) or in one, two, three, or four hours as desired. Other highlights include a large digital display with blue backlighting, a removable water tank for filling at the sink, a water-level indicator on both sides, and dishwasher-safe parts for quick cleanup. Housed in sleek black plastic with stainless-steel accents, the coffeemaker measures approximately 12 by 9 by 17 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.

Hamilton Beach 47454 BrewStation Deluxe 12-Cup Coffeemaker Review

I just got this coffee maker today, after months of reading, looking around, and pondering whether ot not it was going to be worth the money. I've always loved the look of it, especially the cool blue glowing display, but would it work as great as it looks? Well, as I sit here enjoying my first cup of perfect hazlenut coffee, I can say that so far, it's wonderful!
Getting it all set up was very easy, but a bit time consuming, since you have to let it cycle through about 3 or 4 times total to clean and rinse, but well worth it! Once cleaned, I decided to give it a try and brewed a 4 cup pot of coffee. When it was done, I dispensed it into my mug with no messy dripping and am enjoying the first half of it now. I will let the other half sit to see if it will taste just as good at the end of the 4 hrs. The coffee I'm drinking now is great. No bitterness, not too strong or too bland, and the perfect temperature.
Overall, I think this is a great machine and would highly recommend it!
*UPDATE*
So, I've been using this coffee maker for a few weeks now and everything is still great! But, I wanted to throw a couple of things out there for anyone comtemplating their purchase. My only real complaint is that there's no audible signal to let you know that the coffee's done or that the 4 hour warming period is over. I know it's not a necesity, but my Mr. Coffee had this feature and I really liked it. Guess I'm just spoiled! Also, here's a tip. The instructions say that using a paper filter along with the gold filter is optional. However, I've found that if you don't use a paper filter, any very fine or powdery grounds will get through and end up in your mug. This happened the first couple of times I used it, but a paper filter easily solved the problem. If you're thinking about buying this unit, just do it! I love mine!

Called the BrewStation because there is no "pot" involved, this 12-cup coffeemaker features a thermal-lined insulated coffee tank that maintains the brew temperature and keeps coffee hot and fresh inside until it's ready to be served. Simply depress the trigger with a mug for one-hand dispensing--no carafe means no pouring, no spills, and no hotplate that can sometimes scorch coffee or make it bitter. With simple push-button convenience, the machine offers four brew cycles, which include normal, flavor plus, 1 to 4 cups, and decaf. For added convenience, the machine can be programmed for "wake-up" coffee, and its adjustable auto shutoff provides peace of mind. In addition, mid-brew dispensing makes the appliance handy for anybody in a hurry. Other highlights include a large digital clock/timer with blue backlighting, indicators for water filter cleaning and replacement, easy-to-view liquid level with measurement markings, and a swivel base. A permanent Gold Tone filter and water filters are also included. Housed in sleek black plastic with stainless-steel accents, the coffeemaker measures 14-1/2 by 8-3/4 by 10-3/4 inches and carries a one-year warranty.

Hamilton Beach 80675 Permanent Gold Tone Filter, 8 to 12-Cups Review

Hamilton Beach 80675 Permanent Gold Tone Filter, 8 to 12-Cups
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The "Hamilton Beach 80675 Permanent Gold Tone Filter" WORKS VERY NICELY in the "Hamilton Beach 47665 BrewStation Plus 12-Cup Automatic Drip Coffeemaker"!!!!!! : D
Please note - & I cannot stress this enough - it ONLY works well in the Hamilton Beach BrewStation ***PLUS*** models. It will be loose in the basket, shift around, & be forever uncentered in the cheaper version of the Hamilton Beach BrewStation the next grade down (models 47224, 47114, 47214, 47221, 47111, & the like) - which has a totally different basket & housing design than the BrewStation Plus models. Oddly enough, one of the NON-Plus BrewStation models IT DOES NOT FIT is actually pictured on the box for this filter & it erroneously states "Fits All BrewStation Coffeemakers" - but it *will NOT fit well at all* in that model, as people have already pointed out in disgust below, & rightly so.
I bought a permanent filter locally made by Mr. Coffee, & it fit the basket circumferance wise - but it stood too high to close the lid to the Hamilton Beach BrewStation PLUS. And where I live, it's the only permanent filter sold in town. So I returned it, & I ordered this model instead. And Wha-Laaa!!! The Hamilton Beach Permanent Filter 80675 works just as nice as a paper filter in the BrewStation PLUS. Maybe nicer, as the water seems to drain better. No wild overflows, & no messy coffee coated water distributer left in the wake of the brewing cycle. Just nice coffee.
It's too bad Hamilton Beach flubbed & pictured the wrong BrewStation model on the box to go with this filter - instead of one of the BrewStation PLUS models that it actually does fit. I'm not surprised to hear people who have the NON-Plus BrewStations are ticked. This filter, like the Mr. Coffee Permanent Filter, will not stay centered in the basket & will shift around loosely in a NON-Plus regular BrewStation basket by about a half inch. My guess is the water at times would completely miss this basket in these NON-Plus models & flow directly into the coffee tank. And I can see where it may perhaps even overflow in other brands that require a higher standing basket, like the Mr. Coffee Filter. This filter fits the Brewstation PLUS basket circumferance much more closely than it will fit in the regular (& more cheaply made) Hamilton Beach BrewStation. It fits so naturally in my BrewStation PLUS, & it's just become part of the appliance. The only giveaway that it's really an accessory is that it's brown, instead of black like the coffee machine.
If you have a Hamilton Beach BrewStation PLUS (& it has to be the PLUS version of the Brewstation, or you will be really unhappy with its performance & your brew) - I recommend giving this filter a shot.
I hope my "field work" helps people to avoid buying bad fitting filters, to leave soggy, ripping, spilling, dripping paper filters in the past where they belong, & to finally get their coffee. :)
For those curious about the "Hamilton Beach 47665 BrewStation Plus 12-Cup Automatic Drip Coffeemaker" performance, please see my other reviews.
Yours truly,
"Starbucks Rogers" : D

Hamilton Beach 48465 Brewstation Summit Ultra 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker Review

Hamilton Beach 48465 Brewstation Summit Ultra 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker

The Good
Intuitive controls. Clock, timer, etc. are super-easy to figure out; we did not need the instructions to get it set up. The display is bright and can double as a nightlight. Somewhat attractive design. Makes good coffee. Also makes iced coffee if you like.
The Bad
Feels like there are too many parts to disassemble/reassemble to make coffee. The black plastic exterior has numerous dimples, seam lines, and other irregularities (poor fit & finish) that take away from the otherwise attractive appearance. Difficult to tell how much coffee is left once it drops below 2 cups.
The Ugly
Spills and messes. Lifting the lid to dump the old filter causes the built-up moisture to drip down the back of the coffeemaker. Thick mugs and thermoses are difficult to fill without coffee spilling down the side and all over the counter. In my opinion, they did not place the spout out far enough from the release bar. You can get better results if you tip your mug or thermos inward, but some of the thicker ones will never fill without making a mess.
In summary, it is a decent coffeemaker. I had read the reviews before purchasing it and had determined this was not one of the models I wanted. However, the model I had gone to the store to purchase was not available (nor was it available on amazon.com), and seeing as our old faithful coffeemaker had died that morning, I couldn't leave without something to replace it. Unfortunately, my memory was not great and I couldn't remember if this particular model was a good option or not (if I had remembered the reviews, I wouldn't have purchased this model). Despite its shortcomings, we've decided to keep it, but if I had a chance to do it again, I would not choose this one.
