Here is information directly from MSN Direct which is the service this device uses.Customers can continue to enjoy the full benefits of MSN Direct, along with service and support, up until that date. Pro-rated refunds for unused portions of existing One-Time Payment and other subscription plans will be automatically credited after January 1, 2012. Customers may cancel service at any point prior to that date and receive a pro-rated refund for any unused portion of their subscription. Harnessing the power of MSN Direct Weather Service, the WeatherNow II from Oregon Scientific offers weather information and forecasts without the need for remote outdoor sensors, elaborate setup, or a computer connection. Plug in the device, and WeatherNow II automatically receives an FM radio signal from MSN Direct and begins displaying time/date and current local outdoor conditions. It also has readouts for the current day\'s forecast, high and low temps, chance of precipitation, and weather predictions for the next three days. It is the perfect devise for anyone interested in a home weather station but not the complications of involved programming or setup.
To help with real-world planning and preparations, the WeatherNow II\'s LCD screen also shows a "feels like" temperature, which factors in wind chill and the heat index, for a more accurate description of actual outdoor conditions. The display automatically toggles back and forth between the "feels like" reading and a UV-index display, providing the day\'s UV conditions from low to extremely high. Four-day forecast conditions are shown in 12 different graphic icons, indicating clear, partly cloudy, cloudy, rain, snow, thunder, dust, fog, haze, smoke, windy, or frigid. In addition, trend arrows show whether temperature and humidity are rising, falling, or holding steady.
Alongside its detailed weather information, WeatherNow II also includes clock and calendar readings, as well as sunset time, indoor temp, and signal reception. Other features include an alarm with snooze and a backlight for viewing in the dark. The unit comes with an AC adapter, but can also run off four AA batteries, not included, as a backup power source in the event of an electrical outage. Oregon Scientific\'s contract with MSN Direct runs through December 2011.

(More customer reviews)The weather direct weather station was easy to set up, the instuctions were easy to follow. If I could change one thing about the weather station it would be how it displays the outdoor temperature. The outdoor temperature scrolls on the bottom of the screen, along with a written description of the weather report, and the name of the city the forcast is for. I don't like that you have to wait for the outdoor temperature to show up. I would rather it was available on the display all of the time. So far, the weather reports have been quite accurate. Some of the "expandable" features that it lists in the product description are available only if you pay for a subscription. For example, you have to pay if you want to view forcasts for more than one location or want severe weather alerts. If you are only wanting to see the forecast for one location its not a problem. Overall, I'm very pleased with the product.
Edit: I'm not so pleased with this product anymore. It quit working after about 6 weeks and I haven't been able to get it working again. It turned out to be a waste of time and money.

With this La Crosse Technology internet-powered wireless forecaster, one can check the projected weather without flipping on the TV, radio, or computer. The Weather Direct WD-3102U four-day forecaster sends free internet forecasts for the user-selected location to the display unit. A provided AC-powered gateway connects with a secure LAN cable to a network router for internet transmissions, whether or not the computer is on. Upon online registration, the user chooses the forecast location from over 60,000 US and Canadian locations. The forecaster also provides the outdoor temperature, measured from right outside the front door with the included TX-50U wireless sensor.
The titanium-framed display stands alone, or wall hangs. The current day\'s forecast, internet-set time, and indoor temperature occupy the top LCD. In the center section, sky condition icons and projected high and low temperatures predict the next three days\' weather; forecasts update every six hours. The selected location, location forecast, sunrise/sunset times, and outdoor temperature scroll across the bottom LCD section. Additional function keys enable adjustments to LCD contrast, scrolling speed, and volume, Fahrenheit/Celsius selection, alarm setting, five-minute snooze activation, and viewing micro forecasts for morning, afternoon, evening, and night. Communicating with the display from up to 330 feet unobstructed, both the gateway and the outdoor sensor come with mounting hardware. Install the sensor out of direct rain and sunlight. No additional software or Wi-Fi connection is required. However, the system does necessitate high-speed internet service, a network router, and the separate purchase of two C and two AA batteries. A limited one-year warranty covers the forecaster. The display measures 4-4/5 inches wide by 1-1/2 inches deep by 5-1/5 inches high.

(More customer reviews)I have owned an Oregon Scientific thermometer before and I was interested to see if my THR268 sensor would work with this unit. It does, it is not the modern sensor that comes with the unit that displays humidity so that part of the reading is blank but it does display the temperature.
I have a two bedroom apartment and I do try and keep each room at one consistent temperature on top of tracking the temperature outside and this one unit provides a centralized location for me to check each room's temperature throughout the day.
With the cold weather here in Washington causing static electricity within the apartment, I was able to track the humidity percentage in the main room after putting on a pot of water. Works like a charm!
The weather picture indicator isn't always accurate but that seems so minimal compared to the reason why I purchased the unit and it provides a good laugh or paniced pause when it says that it snowing and it isn't.
The package comes with several colorful indicator labels that simply click into the hard plastic screen (you either use the ones that are provided or you write your own). A battery is provided for power back-up to the rechargeable battery that is also provided. I received the unit while it was raining so it took me a few days before I could put it outside but once a non-rainy overcast day came, I left it out all day and I haven't had to recharge it since. Also in the box was one sensor that you put outside and another to put in a room that displays the temperature and humidity percentage on the sensor as well as the main unit indicator; the main unit also displays the sensors battery level. You can have up to four sensors and if you don't have four sensors, the bottom two areas can be used for date and time. The instructions said it could take up to 24 hours to receive the time from Colorado but it was accurate within seconds. The main unit numbers are large and could be read by someone who might need larger print.
I purchased this item blind back in October, no reviews only my trust in the manufacture, and I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Nice to see at a glance what it says.
Easy to set up and started working right away.
Only drawback is the Min/Max function button is on the back of the unit.
That is okay if you set it on a table or desk, but I have mine hanging on the wall, so that makes it not so handy.
I would still recommend it!

From La Crosse Technology, the weather station allows users to check outdoor temperatures and humidity levels to plan appropriately for outside activities while also tracking indoor temperatures for maximum comfort.
Equipped for wall hanging or stand alone display, the weather station\'s 1.5-volt receiver features a square silver frame around its easy-to-read LCD screen.
