Chaney Instrument Outdoor Large Digital Window Thermometer Review

The display on this thermometer is almost impossible to read when it's dark outside--a MAJOR drawback. Even with a back light source (deck light) you have to adjust your viewing angle just right to finally get a temperature read. Even in daylight the display is dim compared to the packaging illustration. The suction cups are iffy. I cleaned and wiped the window completely dry (outdoor temp. was below freezing) and attached the two suction cups successfully--I thought. One of the cups (they alternate) keeps losing its grip and then only one suction cup is supporting the (then crooked) unit. I'm waiting to come home one day and find the unit broken after falling off the window. Only had this five days... will probably return it for a simple, 24-hour readable, dial-type thermometer. Simple is sometimes better

La Crosse Technology WS-1025 Digital Window Thermometer Review

I like everything about the thermometer except its most important feature: the outside temperature is too strongly influenced by the inside temperature.
Ok, so I have it installed at my place in the mountains where the difference at night on the inside/outside termperatures can be forty degrees or more. Many mornings I check this thermometer with two other outside thermometers and find the other two may read, for example, 15 degrees and this one will read 35 degrees. It will be 60 degrees inside.
My window is double-paned, but that still does not insulate sufficiently to produce unreliable outside readings.
When not window-mounted and placed by other thermometers, the readings are acceptable and consistent.

Bundle up accordingly after a glance out the window to check the outside temperature on this digital window thermometer. Made by La Crosse Technology, the weather-resistant thermometer lies flat against any window, mounted with an adhesive strip. The thermometer\'s clear, UV-shield protected screen conveys the current temperature in large black digits in the center of the screen. With a temperature accuracy of +/-1.5 degrees F, the thermometer measures temperatures ranging from -13 to +158 degrees F. Additionally, the thermometer tracks the minimum and maximum temperatures and resets daily with an internal clock. The minimum temperature is displayed in small digits below the current temperature and resets at 8 PM, while the maximum temperature is posted above the current temperature and resets at 8 AM. For operation, the thermometer requires the separate purchase and installation of one AAA battery. Remove the plastic tab from the positive terminal in the battery compartment and set the internal clock before mounting. For the best results, mount the thermometer out of direct sunlight on a clean, dry surface. The thermometer detaches for window cleaning. This item is covered by a limited one-year warranty. The thermometer measures 4 inches wide by 3/4 inches deep by 3-3/4 inches high and weighs 1 pound upon shipping.

ElectroOptix? Inc. Kleer Temp Thermometer Review

This thermometer is a really clever idea, and looks good. Unfortunately its readings are suspect.
I had one of these on a window for a couple of years and occasionally checked the temperature by glancing at it. Recently I noticed that the pointer only moved about 10 degrees over much wider temperature ranges, so I bought a new one.
Actually, I bought three of these thermometers because they just "felt" like a good idea.
Upon arrival, I noticed that they all displayed different temperatures straight out of the shipping box, so I set up a little calibration experiment using a long stem dial thermometer that reads 32.5 F in melting ice. With all four thermometers stuck to the same window and out of the sun, one of the thermometers was 5 degrees high over a five day period, the second one was three degrees low, and the third one was usually within plus or minus 2 degrees of the calibration thermometer.
Conclusion: If you stick all three thermometers to window, they will read within eight degrees of one another, but one of them will be within 2 degrees of being right. You just have to figure out which one to believe.
