(More customer reviews)I purchased this set to replace the older 91049-1 model that had met it's demise by falling into the pool. Unlike the older model (with the same actual model number) this newer model does not come with the 'optional' probe wire (It can be obtained by calling the company and purchasing it for an additional $4.50). After finally receiving the probe in the mail, I plugged it in and dropped the probe in the pool. To my surprise, the unit tells me that my pool is 141 degrees. Upon cautiously putting my arm in to check the standard thermometer, I found that the water was actually a chilly 82 degrees. Even without the probe, the remote unit registers about 3 degrees warmer than the base even when placed side by side. The clock is rather pointless when all you really want to know is the inside and outside temp. In any event, I won't be replacing my seemingly faulty 91049-1 with another model. If you are considering this for use with the probe, I would recommend looking at other brands/models.
