Oregon Scientific Weather Station 500 Review

Oregon Scientific Weather Station 500

Looks and works like advertised - I'm very happy with it! Nice large easy to read numbers, and an arrow button to toggle through the three available remote monitors, of which it comes with one included. (I ordered an additional one and both work fine.) Quality seems good, and no complaints so far after approx. 1 month of use. The lighted display comes in handy to illuminate all the readings when surrounding room lights are off, and stays on for approx. 5~6 seconds when the light button is pushed. The main reason I bought this one is for the outdoor humidity sensor, in which I had a cheaper brand before that didn't last long at all.

La Crosse Technology WS-7014CH-IT Wireless Forecast Station Review

La Crosse Technology WS-7014CH-IT Wireless Forecast Station
Average Reviews:

I bought this station about 6 months ago. It was very easy to set up, and has been working perfectly ever since. Having one reliable atomic clock in the house is useful, as all appliances drift somewhat, and so do mechanical watches. The wireless remote temperature sensor has also been working reliably. I just placed in under a bench on the deck, and it has survived so far (in the wet Seattle climate).
Also, the station has a memory for highest/lowest temperatures (one for the station, one for the remote sensor), which is nice when you want to know exactly how hot/cold it got last night.
I haven't been using the weather forecast much, so I won't comment on it.
I still haven't had to change the batteries (almost 6 months of use by now).
Altogether, I'm very happy with the purchase (less than $35), and would recommend this unit to anyone looking for an inexpensive atomic clock/temperature sensor combo.

I recieved this weather station for my birthday, and overall impressed with the looks, accuracy, and size of display. I have 5 other weather stations to compare readings, and this weather station is dead accurite. Even fallows the local weather station readings to the nearest millibar. It is hard to figure out the P.M.C.E time zones since the switch is integrated in the - button, but once you figure it out its easy. The transmitter workes better that described. Seems to have a stronger range than specified. I have the sensor located at the opposite side of the house through 6 walls, and signals are still good. I am very pleased.
Highly recommended.

I bought this item twice. Once for a friend who recently graduated from a meteorology program, and the second time for a father's day gift. My weatherman friend likes it a lot because it almost does his job for him. It shows outdoor temperature, barometric pressure, indoor temperature, time, and predicts the quality of the weather by measuring all those things. My friend enjoyed it so much that I got one for my dad with two extra sensors. He now uses it at his lake house in Maine. The three sensors were placed down near the lake, in the woods, and right outside the house. Each of these sensors took about 10 minutes to set up, but it works wonderfully. The station predicted sun, and we had sun. It predicted rain, we went fishing and got lots of fish, and it rained. This is a really great station and works very well and has kept two people very happy.

Honeywell TS34C Long Range Temperature and Humidity Sensor for Professional Weather Station TE923W, White Review

Honeywell TS34C Long Range Temperature and Humidity Sensor for Professional Weather Station TE923W, White

After getting my honeywell system I noticed it could monitor 4 more locations, and I have a deep freeze that I want to keep an eye on. This (loaded with bp-91 lithium cells) goes in my deep freeze, then reports on channel 2 which has alarms in the event that my freezer warms up. It works great for that use, and i plan to get another for my guest house when it is not occupied so I can tell if someone left the heat on or it is going to freeze back there.
One of these comes with the 923 / 924 systems, but adding more gives you the coverage for temperature sensitve locations other than just outside (channel 1)
In my case, the food in the freezer is more than worth the monitoring and alarm ability, so it was a no brain decision to buy it. I'll have to think about how often the heat gets left on in the guest house.

La Crosse Wireless Weather Station TX25U-IT Review

I have had this back when I bought it from Bass Pro shops. There web sight falsly advertized the sensor because then I had a ws-8610 which wasn't compatible. Now I have the ws9611-it, and immedeitly we got it hooked up to the console. After the purchase of this sensor a year and a half ago. I use the probe to monitor soil temperature. Because we grow many veggies, and mnitoring the soil temp, with live updates has proven to be a huge plus. I do recommend this sensor to anyone.

La Crosse Technology TX6U Wireless Temperature Sensor Review

La Crosse Technology TX6U Wireless Temperature Sensor

The specs on this unit are +/- 2 degrees "under normal conditions". That probably means "at room temperature." At winter temps, freezing and below, this unit is over 5 degrees off. La Crosse more or less admits to this on their web site. The saddest thing is that the LaCrosse base stations display outside temperatures to 1/10th of a degree - for a sensor that is +/- 2 degrees at best and generally not even that close.

I have used several products from the Weather Channel and La Crosse with no problems. In my directions it stated that it was very important to put the batteriies in the remote until first, wait ten minutes or so, and then put the batteries in the inside unit. For some reason, if you do not do this, the remote temperature will not be read. If James hasn't already returned his unit, perhaps he could try this and write back!

La Crosse Technology TX29U-IT 915 MHz Wireless Temperature Sensor Review

First off, heed the warnings from the manufacturer: don't put these in locations where they can get heavily rained on, and don't put them in direct sunlight.
I purchased this sensor as an add-on to a LaCrosse Weather Station so I can monitor an additional location. I've had it for a number of months now. This sensor is located in the backyard, attached to a deck underneath an overhang so it doesn't get too wet.
I live in a part of the country where the winters are long and harsh. We've had temperatures below freezing for almost two months straight now, with a low of -15F so far this season, and this sensor is still working. If it makes it through May (the end of our winter) I'll be surprised. I'll post an update if I have any problems!
UPDATE: Sept 28, 2009 (9 months after original review above): This sensor lasted all winter and summer, despite having snow accumulate on the top during the winter and lows of -15F and winds of 80mph... amazing. Keeping my fingers crossed that I'll have as good of luck this winter too!
UPDATE 2: April 24, 2010 (16 months after original review): Sensor still going strong, and still using the original battery! Made it through another long and harsh winter. For the price and considering the weather this sensor has endured, it is an AMAZING value. If I wish to replace the indoor weather station in the future, I will definitely look for one that is compatible with these sensors.
UPDATE 3: November 17, 2010 (23 months after original review): I almost feel ridiculous coming back here to update on this product again, but this thing is still working. I just don't understand it! I noticed that the top sometimes has snow on top of it (yes, we just got 20" over the past week), so it isn't as well-protected from the elements as I originally thought... yet it is still working and still accurate! I can't believe that I am gushing over a $15 temperature sensor LOL
UPDATE 4: January 28, 2010 (25 months after original review): Well, the batteries in one sensor finally died last month. I replaced the batteries (old and new ones are Duracell Ultras) in both sensors and everything is working great again. On a side note: we had temperatures of -20F over New Year's weekend with wind chills of -51F (its ridiculous and true). Guess what? Outdoor sensor worked fine and was within 1-2 degrees of actual temperatures registered by others in the area using their much more expensive equipment. :)

A wireless way to gauge and transmit temperatures indoors or out, this sensor from La Crosse Technology works seamlessly with a range of La Crosse weather stations and clocks. Trim and weather-resistant, the piece continuously monitors changes in temperature and communicates them via a powerful 915 MHz transmission. Easy to set up, the unit works great for making sure temperature is the right level in greenhouses, workshops, and other outbuildings, or for checking temp info for a second outdoor spot like a garden. Measuring approximately 5 by 1 by 1-1/2 inches, the unit comes with a stand and takes two AA batteries, not included.
