(More customer reviews)The La Crosse Technology TX37U-IT 915 Mhz Wireless Temperature Sensor is a solid weather resistant unit that works as an additional outdoor transmitter for the La Crosse Technology WS-9121U-IT-CBP Wireless Thermometer, which can accept a total of three sensor/transmitters - two in addition to the standard one that come with the wireless thermometer. If you have this particular La Crosse Wireless Thermometer (and other models that function within the 915 MHz wireless range, adding these is an excellent way to monitor the temperature in a back yard, a greenhouse, a garage, a basement or any number of other locations.
The specs note that the TX37U-IT sensor has a range of 330 feet (100 m). I've tested mine at about 250 feet away, and have it mounted outside behind foliage and part of the building about 175 feet away - it works just fine. The 330 feet should be considered as in "open air" with no obstructions and that radio waves like this don't curve around objects. The actual transmission range depends on how many obstructions (walls, floors, the roof, ceilings, outdoor foliage, etc.) are in the way, and could cut the signal range in half.
Please also note that this is NOT a dual channel model with a humidity, rainfall, wind speed, hurricanes, tornadoes, snow, hail or any other function combined. It senses temperature, and that's it, and should only be used with other La Crosse 915 MHz weather instruments. If in doubt, check the La Crosse site on the 'Net for more info, or call their customer support people.
The La Crosse Technology TX27U-IT 915 MHz Wireless Temperature Sensor with LCD is another model that that is similar in function, and it has an LCD panel. It's the same Model TX27U-IT that comes standard with that unit, and is an excellent solution for keeping an eye on the temperature in such places as a baby's bedroom.
In any case, this is an excellent solution if you want to expand the capability of the wireless thermometer mentioned above... and remember, no more than a total of three remote sensor/transmitters can be used with this unit!

With any La Crosse 915 MHz weather receivers, the sensor communicates from a distance of up to 330 feet. Outdoor temperature measurement capabilities range from –31.9 to +139 degrees F. To ensure the most accurate readings, install the sensor out of direct rain and sunlight. This sensor also can be employed for indoor temperature monitoring. For power, the sensor requires the separate purchase of two AA batteries. A limited one-year warranty covers this item. The sensor measures 1-1/2 inches wide by 4/5 inches deep by 5 inches high.
